Construction technique Hardscape
When you start the construction of ‘Hardscape of your pool, an advice I can give you is to take inspiration from a photograph of a natural landscape or a ravine that caught your attention, especially in fact I it happens more often to find myself walking in the undergrowth in my area, and it is in these places where I found the wonderful roots that I used for this composition.

The structure was to try to be a conductor wire between the development of the emerged part and submerged, and was intended to act also as a support to be able to support the plants in emergence, ensuring that the radical part always remains in contact with water.

The composition you see in the photographs seems a single root .. because the type of wood is the exact same for all 4 pieces I’ve collected in nature, in fact a trick to set up a more natural Scape possible is to use wood and rocks the same species and the same texture. In order to ensure the robustness of the root structure, I used the construction techniques very common dell’Hardscape in Aquascaping, in particular, I used:

– Clamp electrician in various sizes, in black.
– Jumprings steel screwed into the wood.
– Wire plasticized green color.

A dispassionate advice that I can point you at this stage is to try to unite the roots with the means that I have described above, but being careful not to show too much technique, that is applied rings and clamps so that they remain as hidden possible.

Do not be afraid, if some tie remains in sight, we will cover it with moss or plants during planting. You can use these connection methods also to anchor the roots in the heavy stones, so as to ward off any floating hypothesis of the same during filling of the tank. This structure was anchored with heavy rocks placed under the main root.

When we live, and we show people these construction techniques of Hardscape, I always try to see the photography, that’s right … Photography and Wabiscaping must travel on the same wavelength … the positioning of the main furniture in the tank is never left to chance …. there are some rules that determine the focal points that a composition must have in order to ensure a homogeneous and natural human eye vision.

The most widely used technique in photography during the framing of a particular scene is the rule of thirds, which is to draw virtually vertical and horizontal lines that divide the image into thirds, and just in the plot points of these lines the eye human unconsciously goes to seek the focal point of the image.

Translated for our compositional purposes, it means that the intersections of the third we need to focus especially more beautiful and attractive composition.

the golden section rule is also often used in Aquascaping to outline the most important point in a composition, that attention does not have to be a decor .. but could also be a strategic vacuum that leads the eye to look deep, or a red plant that pulls in so striking look. To make you a concrete example of what I’m describing I show the golden section rule applied to photography collection of ‘hardscape plans.

Note that the guidelines lead the eye in a completely unconscious to look deep beneath the cave recreated from the roots.

Note that the tank in question being particularly disproportionate in height measurement does not allow us to create some kind of great depth in the underground ..

Also the choice of clear sand was not granted, Aquascaping colors and contrasts that are created between the different materials is very important, as is the alternation of shadow areas and areas of full illumination, and l ‘ homogeneity between full and empty spaces of the structure.

A tip when you choose the furniture material for your tanks, always wet rock and wood you want to use, because the color than dry changes dramatically, and you may find yourself in hot colors that clash with each other.

In this composition I wanted to then create a strong contrast between the rocks and the root in relation to the clear sand.

Composition of the substrate in the back of the tub
I happen often during live to repeat several times that the essential difference between a stable aquarium and one not, depends on the biological activation level of the biosystem.

The use of biological activators is that in the substrate in the column determines the majority of the time the success of an establishment in the tub of good bacterial colonies, which in turn determine a stable and lasting ecosystem over time, despite being enclosed in 5 glasses.

For this reason, the substrate of the tank in question has been so constructed:
First layer (in direct contact with the underlying glass)

Bio-Soil is an effective biological activator consists of a mixture of selected bacterial cultures of Nitrosomonas spp., Nitrobacter spp. and Bacillus facultative anaerobes dispersed in pure sand, these bacteria will colonize the substrate completely and the entire contact surface inside the tank, and above all will enter in symbiosis with the root system of plants, ensuring a healthy and luxuriant growth by inhibiting the attack mushrooms and / or pathogens.

The activation biology in this tank is very important because it will give me a big hand in the prevention of mold and root rot linked to the dynamics of the emerged crop.

Second layer Vigor Plus + Florido Tabs

Vigor Plus a mixture of organic and inorganic materials with high porosity, which allow the exchange of gases and the circulation of water within the substrate. Moreover, the presence of clay minerals and organic matter humified, confers a high cation exchange capacity.

Vigor Plus retains valuable cations from the water to the mineral nutrition, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium and ammonium, selling them slowly to the plants. The humic acids finally give Vigor Plus the ability to maintain in solution small, but constant, doses of low solubility microelements that are so available for plant nutrition.

Florido Tabs is a source of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, mixed in the correct proportions, in the form of tablets which allow the slow and controlled release of such elements directly in the bottom of the aquarium

Third and last layer Terra Nera End
A land Allofana porous and light with large cation exchange capacity, ending the composition of the substrate, and provides an excellent support for the planting even of the most difficult species to be planted.

The technique involves the use of an appropriately sized pump for the purpose and fitted in the water inlet of a mechanical pre-filter that protects the porous tube by the danger of clogging in case debris are sucked into and / or decaying material.

A basic premise of the growing emergence, is to NEVER wet the foliage of the plants .. this to prevent the formation of mold and prevent fungal attacks, and the use of the porous tube determines an appropriate solution in order to keep only wet roots and mosses applied on wood.

We will make a particular planting .. the art of Wabiscaping is the one that allows us to space with colors, types of plants and do not have absolute constraints .. because we can take advantage of both the submerged part that emerged.

To this tank was decided a strong and lush planting in the emerged part, because it has to give value and make it stand out this technique .. and planting more Essential and minimal in the submerged part .. all to accompany with elegance and design the Hardscape already structured.

Small but essential very important premise concerns the planting technique emerged part, it requires some knowledge that will help to prevent errors and / or issues related to the onset of mold and / or fungi that lead inevitably to have failures.

Here are some basic rules to follow:

or use species already emerged in the form, get along with your dealer do not put in the water plants that order, and then mantenervele side, (the majority of whom come from greenhouses the plants, using the hydroponics as basic method .. so the plants arrive safely with the leaf type emerged).
or Piantumare plants resting them on dell’hardscape structure, (previously prepared in order to have a good surface for supporting the plants that remain a few centimeters below the water level)

or Activate a biological level the biosystem aquarium .. insert in water BACTERYA , and Bio-ALGANEX to make good bacterial colonies that will colonize any contact surface at their disposal .. but above all will enter in symbiosis with the root system of plants, preventing this way every problem related to root rot and / or pathogenic attacks.

The planting of the emerged part of wood is that a bit ‘more delicate .. in fact you must pay particular attention to block the plants with the roots in contact with the porous tube and the timber .. in such a way that manage to be constantly sprayed water.

In order to block the plant to the tube, I helped with simple black bands electrician ..

To hide then the technical part dedicated to the irrigation system, and fixing clamps, I covered it all with a little ‘of moss .. and spot Elocharis Sp. Low .. to give a touch of the natural .. moss over time will stick to legno..e will spread creating very natural front.

As you can see from the photographs, set up a tank with these techniques of planting becomes really easy and sustainable by anyone .. but above all it is wonderful the play with the colors of the plants create contrasts .. the .. the switch from dark green to light the red .. and mix the various forms and types of leaves.

This exhibition became a art work for all purposes .. a piece of living art .. to take care to grow from …

There is no constraint .. if not that of his own imagination and taste.

The conduct of the tank in the first weeks of life will have to be very cautious and light .. the photo period will be reduced for at least the first two weeks to 5 hours of light, calculated that I use a ceiling light 4x39W T5 with a distance from the plants of about 15 / 20cm .. is not therefore underestimate the sprayed heat conduction on the leaf .. that until ‘today was accustomed to a climate-controlled greenhouse. The risk of dehydrating the plant so in recoverable is very high!

The fertilization will be entrusted to experts super line, especially in the first two weeks I will concentrate to administer potassium Florid K7 , organic carbon Florid C7 and Sulphur at scheme level .. while as regards the administration of Florido Fe & Mg and microelements Florido Tracks will be halved.
Until I will notice a vegetative growth and reinvigorate the emerged part, I do not somministrerò nitrogen Florido N7 will phosphorous Florido P7 .

To consider that the management of this tank presents challenges that are not to be underestimated, the plants have emerged has available all the CO2 in the air .. and they want to have a strong source of light a few cm .. so in direct proportion they will need to be supported in the fertilization ..

While in the submerged part and essentially minimal, plants present do not require special nutritional support .. and then the main difficulty will be to find the right balance in order not to have deficiencies in the column and / or especially excesses of nutrients.

For this particular reason, and also for species of plants used, I relied on Line Super Experts .. because it allows me to be finely adjusted, and above all completely independently of one element over another .. and then let me in this particular methodology of management to have a stable equilibrium in the tank.

The administration of carbon dioxide to be constantly scheme .. in more or less indicative ratio of one bubble every two seconds.
